The XBUS Pickup Bus is a modular electric microbus from startup ElectricBrands from Germany. The company was founded in 2020 and is inspired by the "Lego principle".
The XBUS Pickup Bus is the base model + pickup bus module of the XBUS that is available as road and offroad version. Other available modules include:
- A fully enclosed bus.
- A pickup with a tilting dump truck bed.
- A flatbed version with fold-down sides.
- A cabrio for urban commuting.
- A business transporter.
- A large cargo cabin for delivery purposes.
- A two person camper with a refrigerator, sink, cooktop, and TV inside.
The modules can be easily switched so that it is possible to use the same vehicle for both personal and business use.
ElectricBrands is working on new innovative modules including a hovercraft module that enables the bus to sail through water.
The XBUS is available with two chassis variants: road and offroad.
The microbus has four electric motors in the wheels (4wd) that provide a power of 15,000 וואט (56,000 וואט peak power), for a restricted top speed of 100 קמ״ש. The motors provide an exceptional torque of 1,200 ניוטון-מטר.
The microbus has easy to swap lithium batteries that provide a driving range of 800 ק"מ. A Level 2 fastcharger enables to charge the batteriess to 80% in less than a hour. The charge time using a regular wall outlet is 3 hours.
The microbus is standard equipped with solar panels on the roof that provide a charge capacity of up to 600 וואט. For most urban use cases, the solar panels provide sufficient power to make external charging unnecessary. On some modules the solar panels can also be added to the sides for an extended solar powered driving range.
The microbus weighs just 500 ק״ג and supports a total cargo weight of 1,600 ק״ג. The road version has a size of 394.5 × 169 × 193 ס״מ and the offroad version is a bit higher and wider.
The XBUS pickup bus has both a rear cab and an open loading area that makes it easy to load and unload heavy and bulky objects. Because the batteries are placed in the middle, the microbus has an optimal weight distribution and correspondingly good handling characteristics, even when heavily loaded.
The microbus has an infotainment system with a 10.2-inch screen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.
The microbus is equipped with keyless entry, Bluetooth, GPS, an audio system with speakers, air conditioning, a 230 V regular wall socket, a rear backup video camera, a front and rear parking aid system and wood laminate flooring.
The microbus has a rollover-compatible cabin with an integrated crash box. The bus also has active and passive safety systems such as an electronic stability control (ESC) system.
The microbus has many accessoires including a trailer coupling, a bike rack and many options for personalization such as 17" aluminum rims and exclusive interior designs.
The microbus is available in any color and can be customized by the factory with options such as a custom business print.
The XBUS is provided with 2 years warranty that covers both the vehicle and the batteries. The warranty can be extended to up to 10 years.
